Trellis Closed by Health Dept...Again

This evening, at approximately 9:00 pm, a number of individuals walking past Trellis noticed that the lights were out which could only mean bad news. According to the posted DOH notice Trellis has again been closed, as of 5:42 pm this evening, for accumulating 48 violation points. The restaurant was last closed on June 18, 2008 for having a violation score of 49 and was closed temporarily for two days reopening after after a June 20th inspection where the violations observed dropped down to 4. It is unknown how long this closure will last.

  1. It is so sad, but Roosevelt Islanders deserve better, shame on Trellis, they are supposed to be our friends...why put people in danger.

  2. I have tried to avoid that place ever since they were shut down a month ago...

Good thing that I made that decision.

  3. Lived here for 10+ years and I would not set foot in that skanky place.

  4. Roosevelt Islander's do deserve better. It is a sad commentary. There is no choice of restaurants here. One Chinese restaurant, one Japanese restaurant, one coffee shop...etc. There are empty storefronts up and down Main Street. Why? It seem's that Trelli's doesn't care-there is no competition. The violations get fixed quickly, Trelli's reopens, the there are violations again.

  5. I'm sure there are many people who don't even realize that they have been shut down for these violations... They are the people who would keep going back!

  6. If they made a few changes, people wouldn't think its skanky and everyone should want to eat there. Trellis...this is your chance to step it up...show us you care!

  7. I HAVE LIVED HERE FOR 25 YEARS AND REMEMBER WHEN TRELLIS WAS THE GREEN KITCHEN AND WAS WORSE THAN IT IS NOW.
IT IS REALLY NOW UP TO KAIE TO ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING HERE -- CLOSE FOR A FEW WEEKS, SPEND THE MONEY NOW TO RENOVATE, MODERNIZE, CLEAN AND UPGRADE -- AND RE-OPEN.
WE STILL NEED A RESTAURANT THAT IS IN THE ORIGINAL HEART OF THE ISLAND --KAIE HAD JUST SIGNED A NEW LEASE.
AND IF KAIE DOES NOT WANT TO DO IT LET HIM AND RIOC FIND A NEW OWNER WHO WILL --
