Jets vs Sharks ? Parkour Training Video

No, the video is not of a new tryout for wannabe Jets and Sharks in some sort of a Roosevelt Island production of West Side Story, The above YouTube video, from NYPKTraceurIrish, features a group of individuals practicing various Parkour routines around the island. With the many ramps, fencing and other architectural flourishes that are Roosevelt Island expect to see parkour demos for some time to come.

The Art Festival kick off on October 4th should make for a very busy October here on Roosevelt Island as the Roosevelt Island KidFest event series is starting that same day and also running through the end of October.

Brazilian Dance Perf Held at Coler - Goldwater

Locally the IESS Spiritist Society performed a dance from the Northeast of Brazil for the patients at Goldwater Hospital.

Shakespeare This Weekend at the Eastwod Amphitheatre

This Saturday and Sunday afternoon the Eastwood Amphitheatre will come alive (at 4:00 pm each day) with the sights and sounds of Shakespeare with a production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. Each performance is FREE. The shows are being sponsored by RIOC.

The Queens Bridge to Medicine Dance club was asked to perform for patients and students at Goldwater Hospital on Roosevelt Island. These performances each took place on Saturday March 22, 2008. Very cool and congrats to all of the performers.
