Wanted: One Roosevelt Island Gypsy Woman

If you are a Roosevelt Island gypsy woman, between 41 years and 50 years, you are wanted for a role in a movie to be filmed on the island on February 3rd.

Actually the ad states:

Director: Katrina Sorrentino. I am currently a sophomore and this is my first Sight and Sound Film Project at NYU. The film is going to be very short, 16mm, black and white reversal film, no sound. It will be a quick shoot on February 3rd in the afternoon. If you're interested please contact me. I will provide you with a copy of the footage when the film is complete.

This female character is an eccentric looking gypsy who comes up to my main character, snaps a polaroid of him, and then writes on the bottom of it 'content.' She is sort of a teller of moods, a human mood ring if you will. I want her to look quirky and wise.
If you are interested in the part contact Katrina Sorrentino HERE.

Translating NYU Roosevelt Island Real Estate – Speak

First off my apologies to NYU but I could not resist.

A little background information. NYU has recently purchased I believe 58 apartments in Riverwalk Court (425 Main Street) which is now under construction to be sold internally to interested faculty. It was reported earlier this week, by the Roosevelt Islander, that NYU was not aware that the Tram would be taken off line in 2009 for several months for an overhaul and upgrade of the system.

Today’s Angry New Yorker (via the NYT City Room daily “BlogTalk”) posted a piece regarding translating what realtors say and what it really means. My entry, in regards to the above NYU purchase, was as follows:

Realtor to NYU Professor Looking at a Riverwalk Apartment:
“I am not that familiar with the Roosevelt Island Tram but it has the best views of Manhattan.”

Translation:
I know the Tram is being taken off line for several months in 2009 but at that point my finder’s fee will just be a memory.

[Note: Earlier today I misreported that the NYU apartments were in 415 Main Street in error.]

NYU Geography: Roosevelt Island sits in the Hudson River

I know it was just a simple mistake but I am sure the writer would not be thrilled by their grade in geography if their NYU professor saw the caption to the picture that accompanied the linked article. Contrary to that caption Roosevelt Island sits in the East River. I guess the Hudson River is more upscale and would help sell faculty apartments.

Update:

The photo caption was eventually corrected to the "East River". I guess my comments posted to the article were noticed. My apologies but I tend to get touchy about where our Island is placed.
