Both New Tram Cabins Waiting

As seen this morning and newly washed by last night's rain storm both new Roosevelt Island Tram cabins sit across from Southtown's plaza waiting for their November service debut.

It was reported yesterday by the Roosevelt Islander that the October return to service date has now been delayed until November, three months after the original date POMA and RIOC promised.

The tram modernization project is a waste of tax payer money. The tram is a luxury. It was relevant before train service was on the island. It was working fine prior to getting shut down. Tax payer dollars should be spent on a viable pedestrian compatible connection with manhattan.

  5. You people are idiots. What's with the "new people" crap? We all live here. Some of us have moved from the WIRE buildings to Southtown. Are we now considered "new people". Fall for Arts was for everyone. Whoever stayed home missed a great event. And, I can't wait for the "new" TRAM.

  6. fall for arts is for the new people on the island .they are all white there are no new black people moving . only white people .this is what rioc wants, the owner wants all the sec8 people to move out of eastwood . he thinks we are low lifes because we get sec8 to pay these market rents . he wants to make roosevelt landings a high class building but it will never happend as long as you got people living here on welfare ssi . soc sec . and all other hand outs .so too bad for him.but sill there are morons moving in paying market rent 'what fools/bring back affordable housing to roosevelt island.saturday i saw all these new people on the island at fall for arts they make me sick.

  7. Baby daddy...you have issues. You're a racist and a cynic. This is America...home to everyone - from all backgrounds. And, for the record, RIOC doesn't own Roosevelt Landings. Urban American does.

  14. the main street wire never prints the true things that are happening on the island . because they dont want the new people to know whats really going on . they cover everything up . but the old timers know what goes on . dont we ha ha ha . after all. these new people are paying the market rent .

  17. thats how dumm you are in a few more years you will not be seeing many black people living on this island . cant you see all these new people are white. you are a fool if you cannot see what is happending to this island cant you understand this is what the money people on this island want .they do not want low and middle income people living here, if they did. they would build one affordable housing building here . what doses that tell you . you are a fool .more and more working middle income people who were put into sec8 are losing their apartments as the rent is getting to high as they work and the rent keeps going up 30 percent as their pay goes then then are making too much to stay in sec8 and now must pay the market . so they move out .why do you think there are so many vacant apartments in eastwood . this is the reason why .see sec8 is not good for working middle income people . just ask ron vass he this this to us to all sec8 , welfare ssi and everyone getting handouts do not move out this what these people want us to do they want to change the building over .this is the plan .
