Puzzling How Roosevelt Island is Center of Universe?

Not sure what to give that Aunt that never quite understands where Roosevelt Island is no matter how many times you explain it? Send her a personalized 400 piece puzzle with your Roosevelt Island address as the center point of the puzzle.

Thank Hammacher Schlemmer for allowing you to prove to your Aunt that we are indeed the center of the universe ... at least so far as a 18 ½” by 12 ¼” puzzle will allow.

GTA IV Includes Renwick Ruin / Smallpox Hospital

Apparently Grand Theft Auto IV in addition to representing Roosevelt Island as Colony Island includes a recreation of the former Smallpox Hospital / Renwick Ruin. According to the "blah-blah-blahg" it is that recreation that is:

"officially my favorite location in the new GTA. they've even replicated ther planks supporting the window bays."

If anyone is able to snag an image of the recreated smallpox hospital or any other locations on "Colony island" I would love to post them here.

In Liberty City Video Game is Roosevelt Isle Colony or Charge Island? One Has a Subway One Does Not

Apparently there is a hot Sony Playstation video game coming to market soon called Liberty City. Well today pictures of a detailed Liberty City Transport Authority map was made public. The map details two islands sitting in their equivalent of the East River.
[I later learned that the game is actually Grand Theft Auto IV.]

One island, Colony Island, has two subway lines crossing through it. The other, Charge Island, has no such mass transit option, from what I see, but for two bridges connecting it to Algonquin (the game’s Manhattan) and also to Broker (the games Queens / Brooklyn equivalent).

I’d like to think in this virtual world that Roosevelt Island is the one with the subway connection. If we take a step backwards and Charge Island is supposed to be Roosevelt Island I want to protest. It would be terrible if we get even less respect from the subway in the virtual world.

Can anybody answer this question?

Dave Gilbert, Head Designer at Wadjet Eye Games, discusses the creative process behind the Blackwell Unbound video game. These three videos were all taped at the IGDA NY Demo Night on 8/21/07.

Blackwell Games Discussion

The below video links are presented here due to their fictional connection to the “Blackwell” family member depicted in each of the video games. The above photo is of Dave with a screen shot of two of his characters on the Roosevelt Island promenade. All three videos were shot and posted to YouTube by IGDANY.

The Blackwell Legacy – A Video Game?

game - blackwell game images

Apparently there are two video games (by Wadjet Eye Games) out there that take place here on Roosevelt Island, circa 1973, and involve a ghost haunting the descendants of the Blackwell family. The games are titled “The Blackwell Legacy” and “Blackwell Unbound”. Double click the game titles to see the plot of each.

Descriptions of the two central characters include:

After watching her mother wither and die, Lauren Blackwell has no desire to follow the same path. With nothing to lose, she accepts her newfound duty as a medium with extreme zeal.

Joey Mallone has been haunting the Blackwell family for generations. Nobody knows why, least of all Joey
.”

A gaming review blog titled “Games for Lunch” reviewed Blackwell Unbound last week on Oct 9th and gave it a thumbs up.
